The Essence of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga,
practice, adjustments, philosophy
With Anthony 'Prem' Carlisi (US/ID)
Prem is Elsie’s main teacher and great inspiration!
In 1978 Anthony Carlisi began his journey into the Ashtanga Yoga world. He was blessed with the rare opportunity to be with “Guruji” (Pattabhi Jois) from the very beginning. Over the decades he remained connected to him until he passed away in 2009. In 1983 he met the world reknown Ayurvedic master, Dr. Vasant Lad. Prem studied with him personally on a daily basis for 4 years at the Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He has a thorough understanding of the principles of life and living according to this ancient science from India and started to incorporate these principles into all his teachings. Today he is blessed with having the Ashtanga Yoga Bali Research Center with his loving wife Radha. AYBRC is a culmination of their combined energy from their devoted practice and teaching of the traditional method of Ashtanga Yoga and the Vedic Science of Ayurveda to thousands of students.
“Never believe anything people tell you unless you can verify it yourself!" Prem is an advocate of «personal empowerment» rather than “blind faith". He ecourages you, while answering your questions, to question all his answers!
“Anthony was my first yoga teacher and gave me the ideal starting course; he was patient and kind and really took the time to explain things. Everyone would benefit from taking lessons with him.“

Wednesday 13/6, Suggestions on how to live a yogic life
One of the wonderful challenges is integrating what we learn and encounter on our yoga mats into the rest of our lives. How do we make our entire life into a yoga practice, so we can grow in self-awareness and become a better person? What can we learn from the practice and the scriptures?
Based on the practical application of the eight limbs in our day to day life, Prem turns to Patanjali's Ashtanga Yoga Philosophy to make this ancient wisdom available for us today in ways that are non-dogmatic.
Yama/Niyama: practical application (philosophy of living for health and well being)
Pratyhara: how to redirect energy using correct methods for full power
Dharana: Ability to concentrate and focus on one point for maximum efficiency in any way you want. (Be careful what you ask for!)
